Ceilings made of wooden beams can still be found in many places in residential houses and farm buildings. This is an ancient construction method where the timber logs get flattened on one or two opposite sides. They are laid on a beam set between the outer walls. The logs are laid side by side and the gaps between them are filled with clay mortar or covered entirely with mortar from above. These beam ceilings were originally unplastered, but were later supplemented with “wooden armatures”, long wooden chips covered with mortar and coated with lime.

Each fence also included an entrance and a pedestrian gate to the yard. The gate was usually a full double-leaf gate with a smaller door next to it. The gate panels were usually decorated with thin protective laths. The gates and the gateways were covered by little wooden gable roofs, set on higher columns. The roofs were covered with shingles, burnt tiles and later with sheet metal. In the 1970s-1980s, the original gates were demolished and replaced by new, similar-looking ones. However, the gates were usually extended to three or four-leaf gates. The panels were usually made of solid wood, and the pedestrian gate also had a sheet-metal roof. Gates and gate-doors could also be metal, but they were always decorative and often used contrasting colours.
Traditionally, fences in front of the house were made from equally wide planks with decorative tops. The fence enclosed the indispensable front garden. The remaining parts of the property were simply fenced with boards, either of the same width or of varying widths. The boards were nailed next to each other or further apart. The tops of the planks usually had the shape of an irregular triangle, or they just had a horizontal edge.
Wooden fences were replaced in the late 1970s and 1980s by modern fences with concrete bases, simple metal posts, and decorative metal infills with repeating patterns and decorative spikes. This was smithery of the highest quality. These metal fences were most often painted green and white.
In some fences, a metal frame with wire mesh is used in place of the decorative infill. This type of fence is also often found in the Czech Republic. Metal fences are only placed around front gardens in front of the house facing the street. Gardens and orchards behind the houses still have wooden fences.

The colourful interior paintings date from the 1970s and 1980s. Popular floral patterns were painted on very light-coloured surfaces using stencils. Lower parts of walls tend to be single-colour and more saturated. The walls are usually framed at the corners to look like wallpaper. There is a continuous border under the ceiling and the ceilings are also decorated with decorative borders.
